Russian espionage for Norwegian oil technology


Quote: Hauge believes Russia has become more corrupt over the years, and says Shtokman project has always been characterized by low transparency. - There has been a political and business collusion all the way, he says.

We warned about industrial espionage in 2006. I would think that part of the group's suppliers have reason to worry now, says Hauge told VG.

He believes the Russians are not able to develop Shtokman project alone - and that they need Norwegian technology:

- Statoil is in this context, a technology coordinator, not a technology supplier. It is the providers concerned. In the concept development of Statoil is a significant technology gains for Russian companies, says Hauge.

He says the Russians are thinking systematically about access to technology.
