Luton - 300 forced marriages alone.

Moslems in Britain should listen to Baroness Warsi

Daily Mail

The number of young British Asians being forced into arranged marriages abroad could be as high as 3,000 a year - ten times official estimates.

Fears over the scale of a practice described as 'abhorrent' by a Muslim Tory peer were revealed yesterday in a Home Office-funded study.

The research came as a select committee investigating the disappearance of children from school rolls revealed that more than 2,000 pupils were unaccounted for in 14 areas of the country.

It is thought that a proportion of these are girls who have been removed from education and forced into marriages overseas.

The Government's forced marriage unit investigates 300 "hardcore" cases a year, some involving young women and even men, but many victims are girls still young enough to be at school.

Sometimes the marriages are arranged by parents fearful that their children have become too "westernised".

However, management consultant Dr Nazia Khanum, who wrote the latest study, said: "If you follow the examples of rape and domestic violence, where only 10 per cent to 12 per cent of cases are reported, it's a reasonable assumption that it is the tip of the iceberg."

To support her case, Dr Khanum pointed out that 300 forced marriages were reported to the authorities in Luton alone each year.

She accepted that these inquiries did not necessarily relate to hardcore cases, but argued: "It still indicates the scale of the problem of forced marriages, which are unacceptable, and condemned by all religions.

  1. Lionheart;

    Perhaps its a good thing that you are away from these shores at this present moment in time.

    We who are stranded here, are having to "endure" the BBCs "White" season.

    Oh Lord!... Give me strength.....

    The beebs initial question posed in trailers for the series was;

    "Are the white working classes being ignored"?.

    It is now a somewhat ironic question, as we grow to realise that, this is exactly what the beeb have done!. - Ignore them.

    After each self-rightious programme, we are invited by the beeb to go on line, and give both frank and honest opinions about what we have just borne witness too.

    After last nights "white girl" debacle, I did just that, and this is what I said;

    "WHITE GIRL"

    And now we know the true meaning of the words; leftist propaganda!.

    A "Drama" By non other, than Nu Labour Lackey; Abi Morgan.

    Is she actually aware of working class concerns, living as she does, amongst her chattering class buddies in some exclusive part of Islington?.

    The BBC have managed to include every stereotype, that goes hand in hand with their politically correct doctrine of Britain today.

    Congratulations BBC!. You must be so proud.

    I was led to believe that this "White Season", was meant to address the concerns and issues, of the white working classes, not lecture them, on how everything and everyone else, is clearly superior to their way of life.

    We Should have known better than to rely on the BBC. If its not Guardian reader policy, it wont be addressed, but simply ignored.

    Look through the sites of the Internet, see how "White girl" has been received.

    Leftist middle class theory, that nobody else takes seriously anymore.

    This wasnt "drama" it was a third rate, left wing, lecture, on how Abi Morgan expects others to live, in a Multicutural nightmare she clearly knows nothing about herself.

    And my reply via E-Mail from the public funded and therefore accountable, BBC?.

    Thank you for contributing to a BBC site. Unfortunately we've had to remove your Posting below because it contravenes the House Rules.

    This decision has been made because it contains content that other readers may find offensive.

    It is now my duty to inform you that until a time of our choosing you are summararily excluded in posting comments on any BBC website.

    And they said free and open debate?.

    Ah democracy...

    Doesnt it just make you go all warm and fuzzy inside.....

  3. It figures that the media release on this excludes the word MUSLIM.

    I sure would be asking them a question: WHY.

  5. The BBC is racist.
    How about a series called Black?
    Or Brown?
    Of course they would not dare insult others than the whites, because of their own self loathing.
    The BBC, or rather, a large element of it's employees, are gutter snipes of the lowest order.
    Liberal Lefties, or the offspring of that generation.
    They clamor to go to Glastonbury pop festival and do some coke and ecstasy, like a kind of liberal pilgrimage to a holy city, go to the hip restaurants, and jaw jaw about that which they haven't a clue.
    They read all the right books that re-enforce their jaundiced and prejudiced view of the world, an revel in opposing anything British from hunting to Royalty and to the white working class, who often cannot work because of this governments immigration policies.
    I will be happy when they stop taxing the public with the BBC poll-tax license fee, to support their craven lifestyles.
