The reputation of the Portuguese police & justice system

We have been hearing recently that the Portuguese authorities want to keep the arguido status on Mr & Mrs McCann for a further 3 months and then 6 months because the reputation of the Portuguese police and justice system is at stake considering this case concerning missing Madeline McCann has international attention and they do not want to make mistakes.

If that is the case then why after 8 witnesses saying that Robert Murat has lied about his statement have they not arrested him and interrogated him about why he lied, and also his mother who has lied for him.

What does this tell the world about Portuguese justice and their police forces competence to solve a crime based on the facts that are right in front of their eyes - If you was a policeman, lawyer or a judge then is this not a mistake of unimaginable magnitude that the whole world can see?

What reputation can the Portuguese have when they allow this corruption to continue?

I wonder what Robert Murat knows about high ranking Portuguese officials?

If it is true, this is not a case of 8 moths later witnesses appearing from no where, these 2 new witnesses made lengthy statements to Leicestershire police in May shortly after they returned from their holidays.

The incompetent Portuguese police investigation is what has forced them to come forward now because nothing had been done concerning their damning witness evidence that puts Robert Murat and another person at the scene of the crime the night Madeline was abducted, the night he told the police he was sitting in the kitchen with his mother all night and did not leave the house.

Is it only me who thinks that there is something seriously wrong with this investigation, an investigation that has 2 innocent people living under a henious dark cloud while their innocent 4 year old daughter is missing?

Who within Portugal has the heart and the strength to make the right decisions and steps to free these parents from their Portuguese enforced living hell, if not look forward to the European courts of human rights and a considerable multi million pound damages suit for the torment that has been enforced upon innocent people that breaches their human rights.

8 witnesses saying someone is lying is pretty damning evidence dont you think, so what does this do for the reputation of the Portuguese police and justice system.

My thoughts:
Arrest and charge Robert Murat, arrest and charge his mother or cut a deal for the sake of finding out who else was involved in this crime and if you find out Murat's girlfriend and her ex husband are involved then the one to crack will be the ex husband for the sake of the daughter.

And do the right, just and honourable thing and remove the arguido status from the parents before the end of the year and let them go into 2008 free to fight for the return of their daughter.

Let us hope and pray that 2008 will be the year of miracles.

Didn't I tell you, that you are very fitting for Robert Murat Mr Francisco Pagarete, no wonder your not available for comment, lets just hope that the reason you are not available is because you and your client are now preparing for the inevitable.

Let us hope and pray that Robert Murat does not do a Fred West on us before the truth is told.

Annie Wiltshire, 58, and Jayne Jensen, 54, both from Kent, reported their suspicions to Leicestershire police in May.

They had gone to the Portuguese resort on April 21 for a two-week holiday in the Ocean Club complex.

On the afternoon of May 3 they noticed two men acting suspiciously on the balcony of an apparently empty apartment overlooking the complex’s swimming pool. At around 10.30 that night they noticed a man standing and smoking a cigarette in the reception area.

The following day, when they went to local police to report the two suspicious-looking men, former estate agent Murat, 33, who has always denied any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance, offered his services as a translator.

They recognised him as the smoking man from the previous evening and later invited him to join them and a friend for a drink.

Mrs Jensen told police she thought Murat’s behaviour was strange, and her suspicions were further aroused when he said he needed to change his clothes because he had been wearing the same outfit all day.

This seemed odd because she had seen him wearing a different shirt and trousers just moments earlier, she said.

On their return to the UK the sisters passed on their information to Leicestershire police, but failed to hear anything back.

They decided to contact Metodo 3, the private detective agency hired by Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry, to flag up their concerns again. A source close to the investigation said: “We are extremely grateful to them for getting the information to us
